Scientists are now claiming going "cold turkey" by giving up a smart phone may produce withdrawal-like symptoms. I've seen Ellen panic, pure, wild-eyed panic, over only two things in her life... her child, and her phone. The time it takes her to get the former to the hospital compares favorably with the time it takes her to get the latter to the Verizon store.
Question is, has anyone ever become so desperate for a SmartPhone that they've resorted to giving blowjobs in public bathrooms to raise money for one?
There's a difference between "addictions" that people don't seriously think they'll die without, addictions that people do seriously think they'll die without, and addictions that people actually will die (or at least be severely injured) if they do without them. My view on their respective legalities are that they should be illegal in the last case, only sold to mature adults aware that they don't really NEED another hit in the second case, and a "mind your own damn business how I entertain myself" approach taken in the first case.
