Wagons, Ho...

The long, slow decline of the station wagon in the US has claimed another victim. Cars must meet different, more restrictive, safety and emissions laws than do trucks. This makes them more expensive and less practical than SUVs, most of which are little more than very tall station wagons. This is math only progressives could fail.

We had the "prized" '64 Ford Country Squire (yes, with the faux-wood side panels) when I was a kid. And of course 30 years later I bought a '94 Subaru Legacy Wagon. Which now seems to be an oxymoron.

By "most of which are little more than very tall station wagons" I can only assume that you don't mean my live rear axle, fully boxed-beam frame, off-road beast.
