The DOD's Speed Agile program is wrapping up, and the aircraft studies it has produce are, well, definitely innovative. They've been trying to replace the C-130 for nearly as long as they've been building it, so I'm not expecting this to go anywhere, either. Still, a transport that looks like a B-2 has gotta be worth something.
I don't like the intakes being that close to the ground if they're going to consistently use unimproved runways. FOD will be a constant danger and engine rebuilds will be costly as hell. Don't get me wrong, I can understand why they wouldn't want them on top, but that'd certainly help combat that problem.
I also truly doubt they'll be replacing the C130. Too damn useful, inexpensive to maintain, and easy to work on.
