While your regular variety of wacky leftists sit in yurts and complain about economic growth, the *real* business of climate change is being discussed by people who arrived on private jets and drove to the place in limousines. Thousands of limousines. Why worry when it's becoming common knowledge the only real way to "get things done" is to force us to do them.
That sound you hear is the left side of the peanut gallery nodding, and wondering just wtf the rest of us might have a problem with this.
This is a pretty interesting one. I've seen a comment that it took two years of negotiations just to get everyone to show up, so it's probably worth letting them get there how they want. Mind you, I disagree. My business has several huge conferences every year. We pick the time, prebook the hotels and conference rooms, and then pick everyone up at the airport with buses. Folks are allowed to get there how they want. Public officials should do much the same unless there's a legitimate security risk (i.e., a head of state. As much as I don't like Obama, having him fly commercial would bug the shiat out of me. Too much chance for some nutbar to go all Lee Harvey on him and that's a bad thing). Outside of those few with risks, this is pure bullshiat. Flying business class would still be a bit much, considering what's being preached, but that'd be acceptable.
The menu, however, is completely inexcusable. They should definitely be forced to eat nothing but organically grown products that were produced in the manners they're trying to force upon us.
But then again, what do I know. I'm a peon of the worst sort. I go green when it benefits my wallet, have a 4wd SUV (*gasp*), change my own oil, etc.
On the plus side, this will be a completely useless circle jerk of a conference. Everyone agreeing with everyone, nothing getting done, and nothing but hype on how useful it was. Kind of like what happens when Obama opens his mouth.
