Being the parent of a daughter, I can only hope my child is at least somewhat less likely to pull a stunt like this:
An 18-year-old man using a shopping cart to "car surf" was killed when a Cadillac sport utility vehicle he was holding onto hit a speed bump and threw him to the ground, according to authorities.
Then again, I got through my teens & twenties without doing anything even remotely this stupid, so perhaps it's more a matter of parenting than it is biology.
I never car surfed in a shopping cart (that's dumb enough to make the Darwin Awards right there), but I have car surfed in parking lots (on top of a green 70's AMC Gremlin, no less). Sucks when the car stops and you don't. I've also hung on to the roof rack of said Gremlin as it rolled about a mile down a hill.
Car wouldn't start and we needed to get a friend home. Friend's house was at the bottom of the hill. We pushed the car towards the hill and realized that once it really started moving, we couldn't get in, so we just grabbed the rack and held on.
Not a shining moment of clear thinking, that. Especially considering it was Halloween night and cold.

You! Out of the gene-pool!
re Ron's comment: why am I not surprised?
Actually Ron, I did something similar back in college. Only instead of hanging onto the rack, me and my friend Doug just sat down on the bumper.
Of course, the Knoxville PD immediately pulled up and gave the driver (my friend Jerry) a reaming.
