Smoke 'em if Ya Got 'em
Tortoise: 1, House: 0. Om's not quite big enough to stack straw up next to a heating lamp (he's about 1/4th the size of the article's subject), but he will be one day. Time to re-think some tank arrangements!
Maybe buy--or build--some sort of light cage out of metal mesh that will keep at least most of the straw away from the ignition source.

To my gooberous male friends- and Scott.
OM is in a metal dog crate. He gets a small bit of hay and he does not push it around. His lamp is also 2 feet above the flooring of his cage.

Just when you think all's safe, the straw's going to the lamp and then he'll use it to set fire to Goblin's tail, which will then light the major fire he needs.
Tortii* are clever and eveel that way.
*If that isn't the appropriate plural, I don't care. It looks cool.
