People Pix

Mark gets a populated no-prize for bringing us this collection of "people pictures." Go look, you'll understand. The one I remember best is of an old National Geographic cover, I think from the early 60s, which was on my Granmother's bookshelf. It had a large group of sailors standing on the deck of an aircraft carrier in their dress whites, spelling out E=MC2

The ship? Enterprise.

I've seen the photo, too, and found a couple of versions online:

(Well, crap. Do a Google image search on "Enterprise E=MC2" and a great image and write-up on Operation Sea Orbit as the third selection. Unfortunately, your commenting software blocks websites with dot-cnrc, google-dot-com, tinyurl-dot-com, and elfurl-dot com, and I've already spent 15 minutes trying to post this comment.)

(And the second photo I found is blocked, because the URL has a dot-bizhat in it. That one's from the same Google search, ninth result.)

Nice to know I'm not the only one who remembers it!

Apologies for the restrictive filter. We get (and I'm not making this up) one to two thousand spam attempts per day around here. So check the main page and collect yer prize :)
