Fun with HDRI
cathedral1.jpg.jpg

How I spent my weekday off... taking bracketed triplet photos to experiment with HDRI imaging. The HDRI photo was generated by photomatix, I then twiddled with it in Adobe Lightroom. This is exactly the kind of picture I've always wanted to take, but (it turns out) conventional film didn't have the dynamic range to turn what I saw into a picture. Have technique, will travel.

Very cool pic. You might actually be able to sell that for moola.

You saved el Moola. Commercial reference had to be done since you don't watch commercials.

Beautiful! Love how you could make the colors snap!

This is the nat'l cathedral, so I can't sell it.

Lisa: Yep, that's what I've always loved about HDR imaging. There'll be more to come :)

Scott, I would love to know what time of day you went? I have been there like 4 times and never saw the lighting that good.

10 am to 11 am. Keep in mind it's probably as dependent on the time of year as it is the time of day. I first noticed this sort of lighting years ago the last time I visited in the spring. It's quite possible this sort of lighting "goes away" or changes somehow as the sun shifts position in the sky.

Plus, you have to remember to take back one kadan, to honor the Hebrew god whose ark this is.

... Yeah, the pics are that awesome.
