Funny only because nobody got hurt: Bicycles aren't the only vehicles which need to pay attention to road signs. That's what ya calls a real close shave there, yup.
erm, I'm amazed the danged thing could STOP
Posted by: liz on December 13, 2006 10:26 PMOn heavy vehicles, treads are much better at gripping terrain than wheels are. Tanks can stop and start much faster than you'd think 65 tons of steel could.
Posted by: Tatterdemalian on December 14, 2006 08:38 PMIt has a lot to do with footprint of tread on the ground. Wheeled vehicles are on something in the neighborhood of 64 sq. in. of actual tread (figuring a 4"x4" footprint per tire), whereas the tank may actually have (with road treads) an order of magnitude or more of footprint.
