Pongo and I Took Our Last Walk Today.

pongo2 Medium Web view.jpg

For the last 14 years, Pongo has been with me. As you can guess, that's a long time. Long enough for me (and later, Amber and I) to have 10+ addresses, get a degree, move through 5 states, and get married. But, today was the day we took our last walk. As of 4:09pm today, Pongo's out running around causing problems (like eating walls, entire brush piles, waking people up at 3am barking, peeing on things, etc.) with those who've gone before him.

"Mommy and Daddy love you and miss you, boy. Guard the house."

AMCGLTD will be closed the rest of the night out of respect for Pongo.

You did the most wonderful thing for him. You finally let him go. Our furry companions always wait for you no matter what. They wait until the very end for you to tell them that it is "OK" for them to go. That you will see them again.

You will always have a Pongo shaped hole in your heart. It will take what it feels like an eternity for that ache will go away. And it never does.

I know I feel the same way about my Ted.

You will meet him at the Rainbow Bridge. My heart breaks, it is so hard to say goodbye but you did the very kindest thing for him.

He was a very sweet and loving gentleman. You guys gave him a wonderful life. He will be very missed.

Sweet dreams Pongo.

Our sympathies go out to Ron and Amber. We have never seen a dog loved and cared for as much as Pongo was by you both. You both are in our Thoughts.

I am very sad to hear of Pongos passing. I remember the first time I met him, teeth showing ready to tear my throat out to protect Ron at the apartment in Delaware. I put my hand out for him to sniff and we soon made friends. I was amazed to meet such a gentle and ferocious dog who would kill a human but didn't seem to care about Target and the other cat (forgot his name) jumping all over him and creating havoc. Pongo was with Ron and was his best mate for such a long time. He was truly loved by all who met him and was with Ron through it all. I'm deeply saddened to hear this news. I'll call soon with condolences.

Aw hell... it's so rough losing a pet. It's like losing a kid. Just remember how happy you made each other, and how one day you'll see each other again.

My sympathies. Doing the kindest thing for your companion can be one of the most difficult decisions to make.

Ron and Amber:

We are so sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved Pongo. Your e-mail brought back some very strong memories of having to say goodbye to our Sassy last year. We often take it for granted, but our pets really do become part of us. They are our "family" and, just like our human friends and loved ones, remain in our hearts and thoughts forever. Pongo will always be there. All you have to do is think of him.

While it is so very difficult to say goodbye and let them go, sometimes you just have to. No more pain and suffering. Pongo is now "free!"

It's obvious Pongo live a very good life and loved you both for loving and providing for him for 14 years. So, like the good boy he is, he'll wait for you until the day comes when you see him again. Until then, remember he is always with you.

With all our sympathy,

Paul and Kathy
