I learned the only thing more futile than trying to elect a Democrat to the White House is taking a two year old with you Christmas shopping.

Silly man. Amber and I learned that last year when we went to Kohls. After happily sitting on my shoulders while walking around the store, she wanted down just as we were trying to check out. Which, as soon as I turned my head, became the opportunity to go running off. Of course, I just watched her. Then, Amber yells, "That's not our kid. We have to bring her back to her parents."

So, off I ran. Much to the amusement of every woman (except an exasperated Amber) within earshot.

Lesson learned.
