There are times when being rational and negotiating is appropriate with children. There are also times when they just need a smack on the butt. Guess which one this is?

There is no way any child of mine would get away with that in my house.
On the other hand I hope that they will be brought up in such a way that they wouldnt act like that in the first place.

If all your kids' buddies tell him he should start calling you a bitch, then eventually he's going to call you a bitch, and the only thing that will discourage that behavior is a stronger punishment than his buddies can inflict, the simplest of which is a demonstration of physical dominance like a smack on the butt.
damn kids have it too easy. When I was a kid, we'd get a daily beating whether or not we did anything wrong - because we probably did and just didn't get caught for it. And we liked it.
