Ellen's in a bit of a quandry since I've acquired my second mechanical mistress. At least she hasn't threatened to cut this one in half with a hacksaw. Yet.
Your bike is not big enough to compact it and make it into a coffee table. A small end table, maybe??
Posted by: Pat on August 12, 2005 05:43 PMPat - it could be made into a coffee table. You'd need a sheet of glass to top it, but that's fairly easy to get.
It just takes some creative use of parts to make the whole thing work out. Two of the legs could be the crank arms, maybe one of the others could be the front gearset and the 4th can be the handlebars. From there, you just cut all the long runs of tubing to make all of the long/short sides of the table. Spokes would be great for structural rigidity and the wheels themselves might make excellent support surfaces for the glass. Hell, if you need another structural piece or two, weld the chain links together and there you go.
See - it's easy!
