~Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back!~ To the 1890's, that is.
Not quite the 1890's. They are showing their (gasp) limbs...
Posted by: Kathy K on April 13, 2005 09:03 PMYou have absolutely NO idea the trouble you could be stirring up with deriding the Mormons.
Please, just take my word for it.

Posted by: Jay Tea on April 14, 2005 06:50 AMOOoo! Sounds like someone had some experience there!
Posted by: ellen on April 14, 2005 09:53 AMI'd listen to Jay Tea. People may think they're safe and secure because the government tries to protect them, but they don't realize how many groups operate in the shadows of America, and can do whatever they like without fear. And some of those groups respond more viciously to criticism, or anything that sounds even vaguely like criticism, than others.
They won't kill you... that's generally frowned upon, as every murder puts the pressure on to catch a culprit, and the shadow groups don't like that... but they can set you up for a huge fall, whether you're a pauper or a prince. One of these groups, I won't say specifically just which, prefers to have troublesome people sent to jail for tax fraud, using a variety of methods to introduce false documentation into the IRS filing system. These methods are especially effective against those who identify with the Libertarian Party, as they already have a reputation, earned or not, for being tax-opposers and tax-dodgers.
C'mere T... I need to...
There! Your foil hat was on a little crooked. Is mine straight?
Posted by: scott on April 14, 2005 11:54 AMYou would not believe how many of these damn things I saw during my time there.
Actually, truth be told most of the "mormon clothing" things that are all over the web are things that I have never seen...this includes the underwear stuff.
Don't expect to see the waterparks, lakes, etc. in Utah crowded with people wearing this stuff. They are in the same one and two piece suits that you will find on the beaches on either coast.
Posted by: Joshua on April 14, 2005 12:07 PMI wonder who the swimsuits are geared to then?
Posted by: ellen on April 14, 2005 12:12 PMMy guess is that there are conservative Christians out there looking for "modest" clothing...swimwear included. Maybe for Mennonite women?
Posted by: carrie on April 14, 2005 01:07 PMIt's the "conservative christian" crowd (also some other fundie flavors). But
(there's the opposite--the shavedown ritual for competitive swimmers & triathaletes)

and the "powersuits" for swimwear

I have one of these swim suits and I LOVE it. I am not a mormon or a mennonit, I am simply a follower of Christ who is striveing to please HIM. Is it our buissness what they wear??? Just keep your self modest and your eyes on Him. Hillary age 13
