Tornado Attack is accepting bids on eBay for the co-pilot of "Tornado Attack One." The winner becomes part of the "Team Tornado," which will chase tornadoes with a special vehicle engineered to enter and record inside the eye.
Apparently it's a modified Baha race truck, which is about as tough as non-military vehicles get. Which should cover you just fine if it tosses you around, but I wonder what sort of protection they're planning against the 110 mph iron fenceposts?
The thing is covered in some sort of a mesh liner that is probably designed to stop that sort of nonsense. That being said, I think it'd be easier to use smaller, unmanned vehicles to do this sort of thing.
However, the Darwin Awards have been lame as of late...
Posted by: ronaprhys on April 11, 2005 08:35 AMUmmmm, can you say sand blasted by 2X4's? Thats just insane. The only way I can see them doing it is running out into the middle of some giant wheat field in Kansas where there are no trees, or other large objects to be hurled at them.
