And I Think "Nearu Beeru" is a Much Better Name for This

Problem: Beer is heavily taxed and your economy has been flopping around like a fish in the bottom of a boat for the past 14 years.

Solution: Artificial flavors aren't just for soda ya know:

Japanese brewers are increasingly making money from beer-flavoured drinks rather than beer itself ... Now, according to Asahi Breweries, the market for so-called "beer-like" drinks is set to grow 84% this year.

Then again, "Zimasan" would probably also be a good alternative name. Still not going to drink any of it.

okay - now, I don't drink beer, however, this is just patently wrong. Beer should have alcohol. It's a fact. Think about it - without the alcohol in beer (and moonshine, wine, mixed drinks, etc.), ugly people wouldn't be able to get dates. The world's population would decline drastically. It'd be horrible.

I mean, seriously, without beer, COPS would be cancelled, Jerry Springer would run out of material, most of Europe would just implode, wars would break out. Isn't this mentioned as a sign of the apocalypse?

Most of these drinks have the same alcohol content as beer.
Taste is what they're lacking in. And particularly--malt. Happoshu usually has

Anyway no worries about (the Japanese equivalant of) COPS being cancelled etc. Basically this is Japan's 'malt liquor'. It'll get you just as drunk as beer, so long as you can get it down.

Taste is what they're lacking in. And particularly--malt. Happoshu usually has less than 25% malt content, where the other 75% is grain additives. Now the new 'shinnama' stuff just does without the malt altogether, it's 100% 'filler'...
