Holy Shit!!! Our local radio station has been changed into spanish rock!!
This means no more WHFS festivals!
Yeah, this is total B.S. No more Christmas Nutcracker, no more HFSfestival, no more Love Line during the drive home at night. Spanish rock....*sigh*. Complete B.S.
Posted by: Scott on January 17, 2005 01:50 AMand from reading some of the related press, it seems that it wasn't known by the on-air personalities until they were getting ready to go on the air.
ouch.
Posted by: Ron on January 17, 2005 07:45 AMYeah! HFS is gone! i cant get over it! and for spanish rock no less. this is unjust!
Posted by: ann on January 17, 2005 10:30 AMunless you're a Spaniard, or some other fan of Hispanic Rock - yes. Though I think it might've been easier to just start a new channel...
Posted by: Ron on January 17, 2005 11:43 AMHehehehe- this won't last for long. Give me a map, a stick of dynamite, some matches, and some cheese, and well have HFS back in no time.
JK- death isn't my preference of torture. But seriously, WHAT THE FUCK IS THEIR PROBLEM???? I am soooooooooo frickin pissed. god, i could kill one of the ppl at infinity. WHY THE HELL WOULD THEY DO THIS??? ARE THEY SMOKIN WEED??? that's my guess...
Posted by: Crazy Evil Em on January 17, 2005 03:59 PMHFS and DC101 were just clones of each other playing the same stuff, with one new song a month. HFS was not always that way though, back in the day. Can't believe that they were shutdown by a bunch of Spanish crapola, and now I have to change my radio settings. bastards :D Salsa is a bigger money maker than alterna-rock? That just makes my head spin.
Anyone notice how much airtime the new Green Day song got after the execs or whomever realized that it was a good song? Now I'm sick of hearing that one too.
Wish there was college radio in N. VA so I could hear some different stuff. 98 rock sometimes plays different stuff, but the signal is very weak.
Posted by: rainyjambalaya on January 17, 2005 08:27 PMoh my god, I cant believe this is really happening look what happens to your favorite radio station even when you move to a neighboring state for a year and then come back to EL ZOL, huh? EL ZOL what kinda of b.s. is this I mean i dont even know long I've had that channel programed in my car radio. damn it, no more hfstival or nutcracker, though i learned they were losing money big time on those years of double days for the hfstival, could be the reason for their fallout.RIP (99.1)
Posted by: monkey on January 18, 2005 03:06 AMThis is such B.S. and i know everyone is pissed about it too. I guess it was a good thing that i went to the last concert HFSmas NutCracker. They could have at least warned us ya know? I think is a little racist if you ask me. How many spanish channels were on the air before this one, they had to use the most white dominate channel. I think it's a little fucked up, it's pure bull shit!
Posted by: Brandon on January 18, 2005 04:18 PMMaybe DC could use a Salsa station, but don't takeover a station that has been here for 30 years.
We should all pool our money together and make a college radio station.
Like that would ever happen.
Posted by: rainyjambalaya on January 18, 2005 09:47 PMIf someone knows if there is going to be an HFS festival in 2005 please e-mail me and let me know.
Pretty please...lol
Thanks

I don't think they would have the HFS festival on the same day as DC 101 chili cook off which is also on May 14th on Independance Ave.
