When Justices Attack

Who says Supreme Court Justices are boring?

Challenged about his views on sexual morality, Justice Scalia surprised his audience at Harvard University, telling them: "I even take the position that sexual orgies eliminate social tensions and ought to be encouraged."

Makes you really wonder what might be going on behind those closed doors. On second thought, considering the average age of the various justices, I think I don't want to know after all.

I have to say I was stunned by this one too. I know they are trying to keep up appearances as a "liberal" institution, but I don't think anyone is buying it. But can you imagine the campaign ads the Republicans could run with something like that. Gay Marriage would be long forgotten all we would be hearing about is how the courts are trying to force people to have orgies. Of course, that might backfire for them given the naturally lecherous nature of men.

Scalia was appointed by Reagan in 1966 I think. Do these people live forever? I think instead of lifetime appointments there should be term limits. The Supremes have waaaaay to much power and control over our daily lives. The idea of Geo. II appointing three or four memebers to the court in the next four years is truly frightening, especially with Chenney's input.

Oops, excuse the typo, the date was 1986. He was appointed after they could not get Bork confirmed.

Different branches of government have different functions. We technically have three different governments all working together... a democracy, a republic, and an oligarchy. The Supreme Court is the oligarchy, and seems to have worked fine so far. If you're going to try to fix what ain't broke, at least do some research rather than simply complain "this branch of government isn't like the other two, and It's Not Fair."
