Considering the minor dustup we had a few weeks ago over just who knows more about federal contracts than whom, this New York Times op-ed is particularly interesting:
The problem with the story [that the Bush administration "sold America down the river" with its Haliburton contracts] is that it's almost entirely untrue. As Daniel Drezner recently established in Slate, there is no statistically significant correlation between the companies that made big campaign contributions and the companies that have won reconstruction contracts.[Link added]
Most of the sources he cites are from the Clinton administration no less. This should put an end to that particular debate. Time for the Dems to come up with something else to gnaw on.
