There was an "all Italian" car show in Alameda CA this weekend, so of course your friendly neighborhood Alfa wack wanted to share the pictures with you. No, I didn't go, I'm on the wrong side of the country, but I was there in spirit!

Now, seeing as how most of you are phillistenes and don't know a GTV from an Alfetta, and therefore would be comparatively lost in a simple list of photos, I thought you might instead like to see a few highlights, like:

• A Giullietta Zagato race car from the 1950s.
• They're boxy, but they're good. Swear to God, when Alfa came out with the spider this car was considered much prettier.
• The business end of one of those "other" Italian car companies. Count the carbs folks... that's one barrel per cylinder there. The sound they make is compared to sex at 200 mph for a reason.
• Oh, I suppose a few of those new-fangled "modern" cars musta showed up. Pretty sad when you have to drop nearly a quarter mil to get a really distinctive car, no?
• Ferris Buehler lives! Well, not quite. They only made, as I recall, 8 of those California Spiders. This 250GT coupe was much more common, with a production run of, I belive, at least 60.
• Behold the power of Maserati. They may fall apart every other day, but they look damned good doing it.
• This is what Ellen's car looked like before we sold it (clarification: this is not Ellen's car). Let this be a warning... unlike me, Ellen thinks cars are supposed to start when the key is turned, spend months if not years away from a mechanic, and not show you the inside of a tow truck every six months. By this definition, Ellen's Milano did everything wrong and then some, yet I bet she still tears up when she sees this pic. Alfas get in your blood.

After nearly two months in the garage, my own Alfa is finally 100% (well, as close to 100% as it ever gets), so I'll be motoring around soon myself. If you see a white Alfa Spider driving down the toll road in the next few weeks, be sure to wave!
