New Scientist is carrying this summary on the latest developments in trying to create artificial gecko feet. Well, the sticky part anyway. It's already yielding some promising results.
Interesting... unfortunately, actually using this technology in a natural environment would also require the ability to grow new hairs, as previous ones are worn away through use. In non-natrual environments, there's nothing this can do that a couple of discretely-placed strips of Velcro can't do better.
