W2MW in comics

(That's Welcome to My World, in case you were wondering)

Wil Wheaton (who needs linkage like a bear needs panties, so look 'im up yerself), brought this cartoon to our attention.

Ellen had something like this happen to her. An apparently very rich, very powerful "Playah" didn't appreciate "having to talk to the help" instead of a "real doctor". Her response was predictable, colorful, and (unjustifiably) required an apology.

A lot of my patients ask for a "real" doctor also. Too bad in a teaching hospital there are none. Did you notice that Maurice Gibb was in a teaching hospital when he died? Probably didn't have nurses as agressive as the ones I work with.

My imagination is not colorful enough to even pretend to know what E's answer was. LOL

I laughed at both the cartoons on that page.
The guy with the headset and the one in the chair.

I know, I know; the Microsoft help ad was not supposed to be funny.
But to a UNIX tech it is.

Anyway, we've got a few "I have a degree" people where I work and they all know what's wrong and try to tell me how to fix it.
I did move over once and tell the guy to fix it himself, that I wanted to learn from a professional. He got very red faced and said that he didn't want to do my job. That's when I replied about my having a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with over five years experience with System Administration in this particular area gave me a pretty good idea that I knew what I was doing. I also told the guy that if he wanted help again, he'd have to either leave the room when someone worked on his machine, or keep his comments to himself. I got a nervous chuckle at that. I asked if he thought I was kidding. My ex-boss walked by at that time and told the guy to shut up and listen to the woman that more or less runs the place.
BTW, I'm two classes and a project short of my Masters after this Spring.
