Ok, house is at 60 degrees, and the gas company says we may not have any heat or hot water till sometime tomorrow.
But..they did say, "Oh, there is a shelter set up at the Herndon High School if you are that cold." It's not just the cold, it's the not having hot water or being able to cook anything except for microwaveable food that's uncomfortable. What about a shower tomorrow for work? Not going to happen. The gas company has to go house to house to turn your gas back on, and I'm sure they don't want to do it tonight. Plus, they won't give all the details excpet there is a major gas leak in our city.
Heat in our basement (where bedroom and bath is out) has been out since yesterday. Repairman is coming Friday afternoon. Fortunately, the basement is mostly underground so temp has stayed right around 60 - so far. Heat upstairs works (as does the woodstove up there - so guess where we are spending most of our time now? Also we still have hot water, so we are better off than you are right now.
Good luck, hope you get the gas back soon!
Posted by: Bogie on December 5, 2002 06:01 AMI sincerely hoped that you mentioned to the gas company that E is prego, that should get you higher on the list. If it doesn't go higher in the company. I didn't realize the house was gas. Have you guys thought about leak detectors?
Hope it's all back on soon. Though I doubt you guys will be going to work today, we don't go in because of the snow. We've already got 3 inches and it's coming down hard.
Oh boy! Get out the sled and let James yell "Mush, you Huskey!" Everybody be careful. Herndon made the new on CNN.
