Have Hole, Will Travel

BBCnews is reporting on the discovery of a black hole moving fast through our galaxy. It's dragging a star along like a toddler with a balloon. Just when you thought the universe couldn't get more bizzare...

I guess if it is 9000 light years away I won't have to worry about it. Of course what we are seeing happened 9000 years ago, Right?

I think so. No real need to worry for two reasons
1 - if it hits us, there's nothing that you or I can do about it, so worrying isn't that productive.
2 - we have a long time in which to plan for something like this before it hits (9K years or more, because it's traveling less than the speed of light), and we'll likely be dead by then anyway

nothing like a breath of fresh air first thing in the morning...
