They're Called Donorcycles for a Reason

I've never actually ridden on a motorcycle, let alone driven one. My parents were terrified of the things, wouldn't even let the neighbor's kid bring his on our driveway. Now that I'm all grown up, I got nothing against them (I think Ducatis are sex with two wheels), but when I read things like this, well, I go for a ride in my convertible instead.

There is a reason why we were so afraid of the cycles. Your dad and I were going to Lake
Ouachita in Hot Springs pulling our brand new ski boat, could this really be 38 years ago? Anyway a young man on a motorcycle ran a red light and hit the big boat behind our car. We felt the hit, saw the cycle slide under the boat, and the rider fly straight up into the air. Your dad wouldn't let me get out of the car so I never saw the injured kid, I don't remember if he died but I do know he was badly injured. I also had a friend whose 6 year old fell off the back of a dirt bike and broke his neck. You bet neither of you kids was going to ride one of those demon machines.

Mommy Dearest!!!

It seems to me that a lot of motorcycle accidents are caused by the stupidity/carelessness/reckless driving of the folks ON the motorcycles. The difference is that an accident on a motorcycle is far more likely to be violent or fatal than a car accident.

So (if we wanted to be callus) one *could* look at it as a sort of Darwinism...

Sure, because it's all them damn car drivers fault for being there for the motorcycles to hit.

You had no right to cross that road while the light was green! You should have known a biker was gonna run a red!

...And then the comment before mine, saying that motorcycle accidents are really caused by car drivers, suddenly vanishes.

WTF?
