Oh my god!!! I found the kosher salt holder Alton Brown uses in Good Eats! You will have to email me for more info. I am not going to advertise for the store.
Of course as soon as I got home, I had to fill it right away. I got a warm fuzzy from it.
Scott had to purchase a cast iron skillet. I have no idea what he is going to cook, but he had to have one.
12/01/02 UPDATE: Salt container solution is here.
Did instructions come with this old thing. If not you have to "season" it before using or it will rust. Coat it with cooking oil and let it sit for about an hour. Remember this is NOT a no stick pan and it will rust if you don't dry it. I hate these pans, I havs thrown away whole sets.
Remember E. you can always use the pan as a weapon. LOL
Don't put it in the dishwasher and remember never cook anything you can find a the deli! Pat's #1 rule Rule #2 don't live in Seattle that is where the serial killers are born and bred. LOL
Posted by: Pat Johnson on July 20, 2002 04:23 PMCorrection: Never cook anything you CAN find at the deli!
Posted by: Pat on July 20, 2002 07:18 PMI don't know if it's just me, but I could NOT find your email, Ellen! *pfft*
I was just wondering if YOU can email ME instead? I want the kosher salt holder Alton Brown uses in Good Eats, too! :) That's one of my favorite shows! :)
No, the stubborn little so-so forgot to put her e-mail in and then refused to correct it when I pointed it out (b/c that would imply she'd done something "W-word" [hint: rhymes with TONG]). Ellen's e-mail addie is here.
Posted by: scott on July 21, 2002 11:20 AMCast iron pans are fantastic. When properly seasoned they're better than nonstick pans. Just make sure to season it right (I think AB has instructions in his book) and never let water stand in it or it will rust. If something gets stuck in it, scrub it with kosher salt and a paper towel. If you have to use soap on it, reseason it immediately! And if you just cook something that is greasy but leaves no stuck on mess (like grilled cheese sandwiches), just wipe it out with a paper towel.
I love cast iron. Can ya tell?

Posted by: scott on November 4, 2002 04:07 PMI just "seasoned" my cast iron skillet with oil (when the pan is still warm from being cooked in and wiped out). It's a permanent fixture on the top of the stove (haven't you noticed it?).
Right within easy reach for that moment I lose it all with "whatshisname".
Please tell me where to get the kosher salt container Alton Brown uses. My friend is looking for one to give as a gift to her future son-in-law.

Ginger

Posted by: Stacy Tyer on November 11, 2003 02:10 PMThe Lady who made the Post about how she found it, but wouldn't tell anybody where to get one of there own..what an idiot. Who cares if you advertise, tell people what they want to know..
Posted by: Bob on January 20, 2004 08:58 AMPoor Bob obviously can't read. There are at least three places to buy this salt container listed in the comments as well as one in the undate with the information linked in original piece. Now who is really an idiot.
Posted by: Pat on January 20, 2004 10:11 AMI placed an order for Alton Brown's salt cellar in March and was just informed by the food network that it has been discontinued. Anyone know for sure where I can purchase one? Thanks!
