I think I saw this sign outside of Dumas, Arkansas!!!
I have NEVER EVER seen a chain gang, let alone a prison officer with a very large rifle pointed at people picking weeds. * in the HOT sun too*--- they should of made them wear winter jackets while they were at it. Make em suffer a bit more.
I think the wierdest thing is that there's a new (less than 15 years old) public cemetery on Cummins Prison Farm's grounds. Southerners are bizzare.
Posted by: scott on July 12, 2002 08:37 PMFor those of you that don't already know, Dumas, AR is the dinky-assed little town I grew up in. A dusty, depressing little down that shrank in population from the time I graduated (6400) to the time I got married (5200).
Posted by: scott on July 12, 2002 08:48 PMScott the cemetery you are talking about is a WWII Memorial Cememtery across the highway from Cummins that was set up several years ago. I do believe the land was part of the Tom Free Farm that was donated by his estate. There is a cemetery on the grounds for inmates who die while they are in prison and have no family to claim the bodies. Sort of like a "Potter's Field"
Southerns are not bizzare we are eccentric.
Southerners are eccentric not Southerns! Had a Senior Moments. LOL
